Partners Group invests in dedicated cancer research, treatment and education facility in Australia
Partners Group, the global private markets investment manager, has invested into the development of an Australian cancer research, treatment and education facility, the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre (VCCC) in the heart of Melbourne. The VCCC facility is intended to be a world-class cancer center that accelerates the translation of research into new and innovative treatments, trains Victoria’s cancer specialists and provides a center of excellence for all Victorians affected by cancer. Partners Group, on behalf of its clients, was part of the winning "Plenary Health" consortium selected by the Victorian Government in late 2011 to deliver the project, which involves the design, construction and commissioning of the VCCC facilities as well as their ongoing maintenance via a 25-year public-private-partnership (PPP) concession agreement.
Benjamin Haan, responsible for Partners Group’s Asia-Pacific private infrastructure investments and who has taken a board seat on the project company, comments, "We are very pleased with our investment in this high-quality project. Social PPP assets such as this provide the defensive yet attractive exposure our private infrastructure clients look for with this asset class. The project has strong downside protection with almost all revenues stemming from availability-based payments paid by the AAA rated Victorian Government."
